A nurse and a doctor walk into a lab...
A nurse and a doctor walk into a lab... is hosted by Holly Sims and Bhuchitra Singh, two best friends who are sometimes qualified to discuss the latest topics in health care.
We will release two episodes each month, one of which will feature a guest – including experts in the field of medicine and research – for the times when we realize that our expertise on a topic is no better than an encyclopedia entry.
In each episode we aim to provide you with some new information and perspectives on the topic. If not, we hope you are entertained by the often-humorous, sometimes-ridiculous banter of two friends – a nurse and a doctor who share a love of medicine, research, and people.

A Healthcare Leader's Guide to Getting Published: Interview with Ayman Al-Hendy, MD, PhD
In Episode 2, we chat with Ayman Al-Hendy, MD, PhD, a physician-scientist, prolific contributor to medical literature, and a leader in his field of gynecological research. We discuss leadership styles, tips for getting published, and authorship orders. Holly takes special care to remind Bhuchitra that her name should come first in all published literature (and everything else, really).
Dr. Al-Hendy is the President of the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) and a highly skilled gynecologist who specializes in comprehensive women’s health. Dr. Al-Hendy delivers expert care for complex gynecologic conditions, including uterine fibroids, infertility and endometriosis. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Al-Hendy is also dedicated to using basic and translational research to better understand the cause of gynecologic conditions and investigate new treatments that offer improved outcomes and overall quality of life. His work has been published in several highly-respected peer-reviewed journals, including Reproductive Sciences, Scientific Reports, New England Journal of Medicine and Cell Transplantation.
This episode is dedicated to the physician-scientists who conduct innovative research with the purpose of improving peoples' lives.
